Whilst most plants are slumbering in the garden during these colder months, add some much wanted spring colour with a hellebore or two!  Easy to grow they will flower all through spring, and being hardy they won’t be too affected by frost or snow.

Typically a shady woodland plant, hellebores are equally happy in a sunny position. Plant them in well-drained soil at the front of your beds and borders, or in a planted container as part of a winter display (after flowering transplant into the garden).

Available in a variety of colours from the palest creamy white to the deepest rich red-purple, the nodding flowers of a hellebore will be a welcome sight in your garden.

Hellebores are also an important source of nectar and pollen for early bumblebees and other pollinating insects at this time of year.
