Also known as the ‘Lenten Rose’ Hellebores are great for providing interest in your garden over the winter months.  Easy to grow, they flower from December through to April/May depending on the variety, and are a great source of nectar for bees.

Typically a woodland plant, Hellebores thrive in rich, moisture-retentive soil during their flowering period, although they do need good drainage too.  Plant in a sheltered site away from cold winds.  They are best grown amongst deciduous shrubs and trees which will give them plenty of light in winter and spring but which will provide some welcome shade in the summer months.
